When it comes to the music of the 1960’s, for THE BERLINETTAS, time stops there. The Nashville garage rock combo plays the music of The Sonics, The Kinks, Chuck Berry, The Ventures and other fuzzed-out garage rock, surf and R&B from that era. Anchored by Jeremy Fetzer on guitar and Reno Bo on bass and vocals, the band is rounded out with other players from the Nashville rock and roll community like Pat Sansone (Wilco), Julian Dorio (The Whigs, Lone Bellow), John David Kent (The Lemonheads) and more. The band will often bring up guest singers like Nicole Atkins to tear into classics by The Supremes or Ronettes and Patrick Sweany to rip into “Magic Carpet Ride” or a Muddy Waters classic.
“We love that period of time in the 60’s when there weren’t really any club DJ’s yet and live bands are what people danced to” says bass player Reno Bo. “They did their best to play Motown, Soul and Rock and Roll and what came out was essentially what we now call garage rock. The Berlinettas is an opportunity for us to work within that limited framework. Not many bands are doing that these days so we’re trying to keep that tradition alive and well.”
